Riding Areas

Riding areas the Club has been to with directions to each place from Arkansas I49, although there may be quicker ways to get there from where you are:

Appalachia Bay, West of Sand Springs, OK (day ride) Road_Map
Take Hwy 412 West to Tulsa then I244 North around Tulsa. Head toward Sand Springs (412 West).  Follow signs to Appalachia Bay. Go to the park and turn left just after the guard shack. This takes you to the riding area.

Buckhorn/Lee Creek, Devils Den, AR (day ride) Road_Map  Trail_Map
Take the Greenland exit (Wilson St) south of Fayetteville. Turn right on Wilson St. by McDonalds to Cato Springs Rd (hwy 265). Turn left on Cato Springs Rd and go about 7 miles to stop sign at intersection of hwy 265 and 156 (Hogeye Rd). Turn right on Hogeye Rd (hwy 265) and then veer left to continue about 7 miles on 265 to Strickler Rd (county rd 217). Turn right on  217 and immediately go over a small bridge.  Continue for about 7 miles on 217. It will become a dirt road to state hwy 220 (also a dirt road). Turn right on 220 (Lee Creek Rd) and continue about 3.3 miles until you come to Fall Creek low water bridge. Turn left just before the bridge into the parking area. There is no day use fee and parking is free.

Located at 7037 Cass Oark Road (hwy 215) east of Cass, AR. Take hwy 16 East out of Fayetteville for about 28 miles to Brashears, AR. Turn right on hwy 23 and go 10.6 miles to Cass. Turn left on hwy 215 before coming to Cass, AR and continue 5.4 miles to the park on right. Fees for camping and riding in the private park trails, no fee for riding the Ozark National Forest trails.

Continue on I49 through Bentonville as it turns into hwy 71. Continue on hwy 71 to Neosho, MO. Turn left at Neosho on hwy 60 toward Seneca, MO. After crossing the Oklahoma line turn left on Cayuga Rd across from Indigo Sky Casino. Continue on Cayuga Rd to E175th Rd. Turn right on E175th (D-Day Sign) and continue on into the park. They are big on paintball events and are not always open, so it’s best to review their facebook page and call to make sure. Fees for camping and riding.

 Grand Lake Dam, Disney, OK (day ride or campout) Road Map
Take Hwy 72 West out of Bentonville. Go through downtown Bentonville continuing on hwy 72 through Hiwasse and Gravette  to Hwy 42 in Maysville, OK. Turn right on hwy 42 which will turn into Hwy 20 East to Jay, OK. Turn left on hwy 59 south at Jay and turn right on hwy 20 west just south of Jay. Continue on hwy 20 to hwy 28. Turn right on hwy 28 and toward Disney. As you come into Disney, you will cross two small spillways for Grand Lake. Turn left just before going across the main dam to the parking area. No fee to park or ride below the dam area. However, you can’t ride if the dam’s gates are open.  Hogan’s Offroad Park (918-435-8001) is also located in this area if you want to camp there for a fee.

Directions from Jane, MO Wal-Mart:
Take hwy 71 North/ I49 about 42 miles to I44 at Joplin, Mo. Go straight over the overpass at I44 on hwy 249 past Joplin for about 3.7 miles to the Zora Street exit. Exit right, then turn left on Zora Street. Go west on Zora for 6.1 miles to Shifferdecker Ave. Turn left onto Shifferdecker for .1 mile. Entry to park is on the left (red metal gate). They are usually only open on weekends. Contact Joe 417-540-8514 as you get close so he will be sure to open the gate. Fees for riding.

Take Hwy 412 West to Tulsa then I244 North around Tulsa. Head toward Sand Springs (412 West). About 5 miles West of Sand Springs, OK take Hwy 151 to Keystone Dam exit. Cross the Dam and take 1st left, then the next left. This will take you to the riding area below the dam. It is called White Water Park.

Little Sahara State Park, Waynoka, OK (campout) Road Map
Take Hwy 412 West through Tulsa and Enid, OK. At Hwy 281 just south of Waynoka, OK turn right (North) 11 miles. Park will be on the left. Fees for camping and riding.

Take Hwy 62 North out of Rogers to Hwy 37 North in Gateway. Go North to Hwy 60 in Monett, MO. Turn right on Hwy 60. You will pass through Aurora, Marionville and then Billings. Go 1 block past the stoplight in Billings. Turn right on Hwy 14 go around 30 miles to Ozark, MO. At Hwy 65 South to the next exit. At the exit turn left stay on Hwy 14 go through Sparta. Take turn on Hwy 125 towards Chadwick. You can also continue through Billings to James River Freeway. Turn right on James River Freeway to Hwy 65 South to Branson. Go to Sparta exit continue down Hwy 14. Take turn on Hwy 125 towards Chadwick. Stop at Kay’s General Store in Chadwick to get riding permits (you will need year, make, model & vin # of ATV). Go South about 1 mile to Hwy H. Turn right go 2 miles, watch for signs for Cobb Ridge. Turn right go 1/4 mile to campgrounds on your left. Fees for daily permit ($8 per bike) and camping unless the club is doing a work day at the park in which all fees may be waived. Note: No side by sides are allowed on the trails. It’s only for motorcycles and less than 50 inch ATV’s.

From I49 go to exit 86. Go East on Hwy 102 to Hwy 62 North out of Rogers. Go approximately 17-18 miles to Gateway, after you go under the railroad underpass. Turn left on Hwy 37 to Seligman, MO. Approximately 2 miles North to Seligman Super Stop turn right on Hwy 112. at the intersection of Hwy 37 & 112 go east 6 miles to Scenic Drive. Turn right on dirt road go 3 miles to unloading area on both sides of the road.
Note: You must have flags 6′ off the ground, a slow moving vehicle sign on the back of your ATV (small or large) and a county sticker good for as long as you own that ATV which are available at the Sportman’s Corner Store at the intersection of  hwy 112 and hwy 76/86 just South of Cassville. You will need name, address, ATV model and VIN. Tickets for not having these can be very expensive.

Take the same directions as hwy 112 above, but continue on hwy 112 to Roaring River State Park. Turn right at Roaring River on Hwy F and continue through the park to hwy 86. Turn left on hwy 86 and go about 2.9 miles to forest road 1011. Turn right on this forest road to parking just off the highway. There is also additional parking farther down the dirt road. The same note applies here to flag, slow moving sign, and county permit.

Until further notice, this area is not a valid riding area, even though it contains good trails.

Mill Creek, near Combs, AR (day ride or campout) Road Map Trail_Map1 Trail_Map2 Mulberry Mountain
Take Hwy 16 East out of Fayetteville for about 26 miles to Combs, AR. To access the main trailhead, turn right on Mill Creek Rd, the 1st road on the right out of Combs. Go about 4 miles to Mill Creek OHV sign. Take a left and continue on Mill Creek Rd for less than 1/2 mile. There will be unloading/parking areas on both sides. You can also continue from Combs to Brashears and turn right on hwy 23 to Mulberry Mountain for camping. From there you can ride your atv from the campground to trails that can access Mill Creek and some other trails in the area. A $3 per day use fee is required for each atv/utv/sxs operator with parking included in this price. Carry part of this permit with you and leave part of it in your tow vehicle if parking at the trailhead. There is a self pay station at the main trailhead and according to the forest service, one close to the Mulberry Mountain campground.

Follow I49 south to I40 at Alma. Turn left on I40 toward Little Rock. Turn left on hwy 7 at Russellville. Continue on hwy 7 past Dover, AR to Mack’s Pines Campground on the right. They have cabins for rent and campsites. Reserve your spot in advance. There are trails on both sides of the road. Fees for camping, no fee for riding.

Follow I49 south to I40 at Alma. Turn left on I40 toward Little Rock. Turn right on hwy 23 exit at Ozark. Continue through Ozark on hwy 23 across the Arkansas River to hwy 309. Turn left on 309 and continue through Paris, AR. Hwy 309 turns to the left after passing through Paris. Continue on 309 to Mt. Magazine Rd. Turn right on Mt. Magazine Rd to the park. As you enter the park loop, turn right and the campground is the 2nd right after that. The actual trail head is off hwy 309 about 3.5 miles from the campground. You will have to trailer your bike to the trailhead as you cannot get to the trails from the campground. Fees for camping, no fee for riding.

River Offroad Park, Ft. Smith, AR (day ride) Road Map
From Fayetteville, go south on I49 to  I40 near Alma. Take a right on I40 for 4.6 miles, then exit right on I540 to Van Buren. Take the first exit off I540 to the right on Hwy 71/64/Alma Hwy through Van Buren.  Continue about 2 miles and veer left to stay on 71/64 which is now Broadway. Go across the Arkansas River Bridge on Broadway to the first exit on the left which will take you into the park. The cost for riding is $10 per day per bike. Note: The last time some of us rode there it was not maintained and grown up, but still had some open areas that were ok for riding.

Continue on I49 to hwy 71 through Bella Vista, AR to hwy 90. Turn right on hwy 90 to Jane, MO. Continue east on hwy 90 to Rush Springs Ranch campround on the right. You will go past Rush Springs Ranch houses, but continue on to the campground. Fees for riding and camping.

Take I49 to I40 at Alma. Turn right and go west on I40 to Ft. Smith. Turn left on I540 through Van Buren and Ft. Smith. On the south side of Ft. Smith, turn left on hwy 71 south and continue to Mena on hwy 71. Turn left at Mena on hwy 8. Continue on hwy 8 for approx 10 miles to just before Board Camp, AR. Turn right on Polk county rd 61. There are two campgrounds on co rd 61, Coyote Canyon and Wolfpen Gap ATV. They are very strict about creek crossings and speed limits there. Fees for camping, no fee for riding. The state is now closing the trails for part of the year during the winter so call to make sure they are open.
